NFC East teams just can’t stop winning. The division posted a 3-1 record in Week 11 and holds a combined record of 29-12.
The New York Giants were the only NFC East team to suffer defeat on Sunday. Here’s what the standings look like now:
- Philadelphia Eagles: 9-1
- Dallas Cowboys: 7-3
- New York Giants: 7-3
- Washington Commanders: 6-5
Colts nearly upset Eagles
The Indianapolis Colts left football fans scratching their heads after hiring Jeff Saturday as interim-head coach despite having no coaching experience. Saturday got the win in his coaching debut last week, and nearly knocked off the Eagles in Week 11.
But late-game heroics from Jalen Hurts saved Philadelphia from losing a second-consecutive game. Hurts rushed in a game-winning touchdown with 1:20 left to lift the Eagles to a 17-16 win.
Indianapolis was in control throughout the match, scoring on the game’s opening drive. The Colts wouldn’t relinquish the lead until Hurts’ score late in the fourth quarter.
Hurts had 276 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. The defense balled out, too, sacking Matt Ryan four times.
Up next, Philadelphia will take on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.
Cowboys whomp the Vikings
Dallas clobbered the Minnesota Vikings with ease, winning 40-3. Tony Pollard was the MVP on offense, tallying 189 total yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Micah Parsons led the way with two sacks, one forced fumble, four total tackles and one tackle for loss.
The Vikings had no answer for the Cowboys. Kirk Cousins was sacked seven times and threw for only 105 yards. Defensively, Minnesota allowed 458 yards and allowed 40 points for the first time since Week 16, 2020.
It’s Cowboys vs. Giants on Thanksgiving in Week 12. The winner controls second place in the NFC East.
Lions notch third-straight win vs. the Giants
The Detroit Lions got an impressive road victory over the Giants by a score of 31-18. Daniel Jones threw for 341 yards, the third-highest total of his career. But Jones’ two interceptions proved to be costly in New York’s second loss in three games.
The Giants offense goes as Saquon Barkley goes, and the former Penn State Nittany Lion was at a standstill with only 22 rushing yards. But Detroit rushers had a day, combining for 160 yards and four touchdowns.
Texans had nothing for the Commanders
Washington jumped on the Houston Texans early and didn’t let off the gas in a 23-10 win. On Houston’s opening drive, Davis Mills tossed a pick-six and the Commanders held the lead for the rest of the game.
Mills completed 57% of his throws for 169 yards and two interceptions. Dameon Pierce entered Week 11 with the sixth-most rushing yards in the NFL, but could only muster up eight yards against Washington.
The Commanders are now 4-1 in games started by Taylor Heinicke, and 2-4 with Carson Wentz at the helm. Heinicke doesn’t put up flashy stat lines, but his record as a starter certainly warrants a debate as to who should be taking snaps the rest of the season.
Washington hosts the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12.
