Improvement from last offseason

In May of 2022, the Cowboys odds to win the Super Bowl were listed at +1800. Clearly the handicappers have a bit more faith in Big D going into the 2023 season.

Part of the reason for the bumped odds could be the Cowboys playoff win vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dallas has been plagued with postseason failure since the team last won the Super Bowl in 1995. The Cowboys haven’t been to the NFC Championship game in 27 seasons.

But the Cowboys beatdown of Tom Brady and Buccaneers in the Wild Card may have shown the oddsmakers that this Cowboys team can take the next step.

Of course, Dallas went on to lose in the Divisional Round to the San Francisco 49ers. That’s the likely reason the Cowboys failed to rank in DraftKings top five.

Roster rounding into form

There’s still a lot to be determined before we can accurately predict the Cowboys chances of winning the Super Bowl next season. Mostly, the draft.

Dallas’ WR depth needed to be addressed. CeeDee Lamb had a phenomenal season, catching 107 passes for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns, all career-highs. But the WRs behind him combined for 97 receptions, 1,161 yards and seven touchdowns. Now, the Cowboys have Brandin Cooks on board, cut Zeke Elliott, and upgraded their secondary with Stephon Gilmore.

The moves did not make the Super Bowl odds budge, though that likely means oddsmakers expected the Cowboys to address some of their glaring needs as they have.
